Patxi's story

Lori came to Austin Guinea Pig Rescue looking for a new friend for her younger guinea pig, Guilly. Here's how Patxi came be be part of her family:

Guilly's buddy, Tim, was a senior, and I wanted to start the bonding process early so Guilly wouldn’t be alone when the time came. I was so impressed that AGPR offered
bonding sessions, something many people don’t realize is essential when introducing
guinea pigs. Their thoughtful process made all the difference. That’s how we met Patxi.

Patxi is a special needs guinea pig - he was dropped by his former owner and lost use of his back legs. What stood out most was his sweet, calm nature and how quickly Guilly bonded with him. Their first meeting went very well so we scheduled a second bonding attempt. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the meeting because Tim passed away that day. Guilly was devastated.

Bringing Patxi home changed everything. Guilly perked up immediately. I even saw
Guilly pushing cucumber toward Patxi so he could reach it. Patxi was so loved at the rescue that Piglet, a senior foster guinea pig at AGPR, became sad when he left. That touched me deeply, so I decided to foster Piglet. Now, Guilly, Patxi, and Piglet are a bonded trio living happily together. I’m so grateful to AGPR, not just for introducing us to Patxi, but for the love and care they show every single guinea pig in their rescue.
